The "Hyperloop," a conceptual mass-transit system unveiled last year by billionaire industrialist Elon Musk, may actually get built, thanks to a crowd-sourced set of designs released Thursday. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, a company unaffiliated with Musk that is dedicated to the project, has harnessed the talents of more than 100 engineers and designers to create dozens of designs and schematics in an effort to drum up enthusiasm — and funding — for the futuristic mode of transportation. The company's strategy: By offering qualified contributors stock in the company in exchange for help designing the system, the Hyperloop will move from blueprint to built.
