The death of a Michigan woman who climbed a fence and was mauled by dogs has been ruled a suicide, NBC News reported.

Rebecca Lillian-Kay Hardy, 22, climbed into a Port Hurton backyard Dec. 3 and was attacked by a pit bull and Husky, according to police. She suffered severe facial and neck injuries and died after being airlifted to a local hospital.

Authorities said that she had entered the fenced-in backyard for "an unknown reason."

The medical examiner's office ruled Hardy's death a suicide, according to police.
