Wendy Martinez, 45, was pronounced dead in her home in Concourse Village in the Bronx where she was shot shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, the NYPD said.

Manuel Gomez was hired after her older son was charged with murder. That son was released on his own recognizance last year and his family has been getting death threats ever since, Gomez said.

The shooter fled the scene, and an investigation is ongoing, according to police. No one has been arrested.
