Water Restrictions in Place for Parts of New Jersey Due to Dry Spell

Water restrictions have been put in place in parts of New Jersey due to high temperatures and lack of rain.

The Mahwah water department has declared a Level 2 Water Emergency, limiting outdoor watering starting at 6 a.m. on Thursday.

  • Outdoor watering will be permitted at odd-numbered houses on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays:
    • From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. by in-ground watering systems.
    • From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. by above ground watering systems.
  • Properties watered with in-ground sprinkler systems will not be allowed to be watered with above ground hose-fed sprinklers.
