Man Swinging Sword in Times Square Arrested: NYPD

A man who was swinging a 30-inch sword in Times Square has been arrested, police say.

Ronald Pearson, 51, was seen swinging the sword in a "threatening manner" in Times Square at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said when they approached Pearson he continued to swing the sword, which is about as long as two bowling pins.

They were able to take him into custody without being hurt, they said, but they also found a 41-inch spear on him.

Pearson, of Brooklyn, is facing multiple charges including criminal posession of a weapon. Police said he has prior arrests for weapons posession.
