A power outage left much of the city of Passaic in the dark Friday morning after an equipment failure at a local substation.
Power went out at 8 a.m. and was restored just before 9 a.m., PSE&G said.
Some Passaic public schools were affected by the outage, the district wrote on Facebook, but officials still planned to hold a regular school day. There were widespread reports of down traffic lights and emergency services as well.
Social media lit up with residents and businesses demanding an explanation.
PSEG's online outage map indicated nearly 10,000 customers were without power at the peak of the outage.
