A homeowner in Paterson, N.J. was charged with four counts of manslaughter Tuesday for failing to make repairs to a home, causing a fire that killed four people, prosecutors say.
Florence Brown, 62, neglected to make electrical repairs to a multi-family building at 465 E. 31st St. in Paterson, resulting in a fire June 30, 2010, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes charged.
The fire broke out at about 4 a.m. in the basement of the three-story house, said Valdes. Nine people were living in the house at the time; four died in the fire.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical overload due to faulty wiring.
Attorney information for Brown was not immediately available.
