Newark Light Rail Train Collides With Car: Authorities

Two people had minor injuries in the crash near Franklin Avenue

A Newark light rail train collided with a car near the Franklin Avenue station Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Light rail service was running with 15 minute delays between Grove Street and Branch Brook Park because of the collision, authorities said.

Two people suffered minor injuries in the crash. The driver of the car refused medical attention at the scene and the light rail operator was evaluated by EMS at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the car was issued a summons for disregarding a traffic control device, authorities said.
