Queens Boy Hospitalized After 30-Foot Quarry Fall

A Queens boy was hospitalized with neck, back and arm injuries after falling about 30 feet into a quarry in Westchester County.

County police say the 10-year-old boy was at the Cranberry Lake Preserve in North White Plains with his family when he slipped on loose stones Tuesday.

Authorities say he landed near a small pond in the 190-acre park and was unconscious.

The Journal News reports it took emergency responders about a half hour to rescue him. Police say they had to contend with rugged terrain, rocks and small trees and brush.

The boy is listed in stable condition.
