Police are looking for a 33-year-old woman they say took her 6-month-old baby from a Bronx foster care agency during a routine visit in a case they are investigating as a possible abduction, authorities say.
Officials say the woman was visiting her child at Haven Academy on Brown Place in Mott Haven Wednesday and left with the baby. Police were notified shortly after noon.
It's not clear why the baby was in foster care, but police say the woman did not have permission to take the child.
A spokesperson for New York Foundling, which runs the foster care agency, said it notified NYPD immediately that the baby was taken and was working with police to ensure the child's safe return.
