K9 Dog Named Texas Is Missing in Connecticut, State Police Say

A state police dog in Connecticut has disappeared, hours after he helped search for a missing man in the woods, authorities say.

The K9 bloodhound named Texas had gone into the area of Wooster Mountain with Connecticut state troopers Wednesday evening, according to police. Another police dog found the man, who left the woods with police.

During the search, Texas' handler lost his footing on steep terrain and let go of the 15-foot leash. Texas continued climbing up the slope, and when the trooper reached the top of the hill, Texas wasn't in sight.

Texas is a non-aggressive brown bloodhound, according to state police. He was wearing a green tracking vest.

State police, along with Danbury police and fire departments, are still searching for him. Anyone with information is asked to contact Troop A at 203-267-2200.
