Authorities have made an arrest in a deadly bar brawl that occurred earlier this year in northern New Jersey.
Union County prosecutors announced Tuesday that Laquan McCall is charged with aggravated manslaughter. The count stems from a July 27 fight in Elizabeth involving McCall and Oscar Melara, both 28-year-old city residents.
Police responding to the scene found Melara, who had suffered undisclosed injuries. He was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead there a short time later.
Authorities haven't said what sparked the brawl.
Authorities say McCall was identified as a suspect and was arrested Friday morning. He's being held in the county jail pending a detention hearing, and it's not known if he's retained an attorney.
