Informant Says Cop Forced Her to Have Sex: Report

Accused cop is same man who allegedly killed his girlfriend this year

An informant known to two NYPD officers as "The Blond" said one of them -- already accused of killing his girlfriend -- forced her to have sex and that she was paid off with drugs in exchange for information about her providers, according to a report.

Barbara Lenahan said she was an informant to officers Michael Arenella and Jerry Bowens, and that Bowens gave her cocaine for tips about drug dealers, the Daily News reported. She also said Bowens made her have sex with him.

"But not by my choice," she said in court Thursday, according to the News.

If Bowens' name sounds familiar, he's the cop accused this year of killing girlfriend Catherine Donofrio and shooting her friend Melissa Simmons. Also this year, he pleaded guilty to conspiring with Arenella to shake down an undercover officer disguised as a dealer.

Lenahan said Bowens recruited her to be a snitch after she was arrested in 2007, the News reported.

"He'd ... give me something on the side, whatever I wanted, whatever, cocaine," she testified, according to the News.

Just days into her tenure as an informant, she met with Bowens, who forced her to have sex, she testified, adding that the officer eventually stalked and harassed her, the News reported.

Lenahan said Arenella, who was Bowens' supervisor, never gave her any drugs.

Lenahan appeared tired and nervous, fidgeting and mumbling "so fast that court officers could barely keep up with her," the News reported.
