After reporting his estranged wife missing last month, a New York businessman advertised for a part-time bookkeeper to do work she normally handled.
Werner Lippe, who owns a Manhattan jewelry business, is now charged in Westchester County with second-degree murder.
The ad said a bookkeeper was needed for a "private household." It added: "My wife, who did all this work, is since 3 weeks missing."
State Police Senior Investigator Bruce Cuccia calls it "another strange piece of this puzzle."
Lippe's lawyer, Andrew Rubin, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Thursday. On Monday, Lippe told court onlookers who berated him: "I did nothing!"
Faith Lippe was a school nutrition consultant in Ossining.
