School Van Hits Girl Crossing Street in New Jersey

Police say the girl was apparently crossing the street to catch a bus

A school van struck a girl in New Jersey who was apparently crossing the street to catch her bus Wednesday morning, police said. 

The student, whose age and name wasn't released, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. 

She just had left a 7-Eleven convenience store when a Brick Township Public Schools van struck her on Mantoloking Road, police said. The road was closed for about two hours. 

Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to call 732-262-1141.
