No Charges Filed Against Giants Player Accused of Sex Assault: Sources

No charges are being filed against a New York Giants rookie who has been accused of sexual assault, NYPD told NBC 4 New York Saturday evening.

A woman alleges that after she met defensive tackle Jay Bromley in a hotel room, he took things further than she wished and tried to sexually assault her, according to law enforcement sources. The two had connected on Instagram and agreed to meet at the hotel, the sources said.

When Bromley tried to leave the scene, the woman got on the hood of his car in an attempt to stop him from leaving, but he drove off, and she suffered minor injuries when she fell to the ground, law enforcement sources said.

Sources said investigators interviewed Bromley and the woman and have thus far decided against filing charges in the case. However, the investigation is ongoing, they said.

An email to Bromley's agent seeking comment wasn't immediately returned.

"We are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor it," the team said in a statement early Saturday. "We have notified the league office per the league's protocol. We will have no further comment as we understand this is an ongoing investigation."
