Missing Florida Teen Caitlyn Frisina, Who Was With Soccer Coach, Found Safe in NY

Officials say 27-year-old coach is in custody after he was found in car with teen in Syracuse, NY

Authorities say a missing 17-year-old Florida girl who was with a soccer coach from her school has been found safe.

Caitlyn Frisina was found safe in Syracuse, New York, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Officials said a New York State Police officer spotted their car in Syracuse just after 4 p.m. The officer stopped the car and found Frisina and 27-year-old Rian Rodriguez inside, officials said.

Rodriguez was taken into custody. It's unknown what charges he may face.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Tuesday issued a missing child alert for Frisina, who was last seen in Lake City and was believed to be with Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was the head boys' soccer coach at Fort White High School for the Columbia County School District, NBC affiliate WTLV reported. The District released a letter stating that Rodriguez has been suspended pending the investigation.

Frisina was believed to have left her home of her own accord and left behind her phone, which she fully erased, authorities said. She also withdrew $200 from an ATM in St. Mary's, Georgia, on Sunday.

The sheriff's office has scheduled a Monday news conference to discuss the case.
