Woman Found Dead in Westchester Town's First Homicide in 39 Years: Cops

Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her Westchester home Wednesday in the town's first homicide in nearly four decades.

Authorities responded to the home on Lincoln Road in Scarsdale at about 10 a.m., when they received a report of a woman who had been seriously injured.

When they arrived, they found a 58-year-old woman dead inside the home, according to police. A 61-year-old man, who called 911, was also in the dwelling.

Their identities haven't been released, but neighbors say the man and woman were a married couple who had lived in the home for years.

The man is being questioned by police, but he hasn't been charged with any crimes.

Authorities are calling the death an isolated incident.

Neighbors say they are shocked by the slaying, the first in the town since 1977. They say all crime is unusual in the area marked by million-dollar homes and manicured lawns.

"It's horrible," said one neighbor. "This is a quiet, idyllic, nice street. This is mindboggling."

It's the first homicide in the town since 1977.
