A cyclist was struck and killed by a car while crossing an intersection in Flatbush and police are looking for the driver, who sped off after the crash, authorities said.
The 30-year-old victim was biking across Church Avenue at the intersection of Nostrand Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Saturday when a silver Infiniti barreled into him, the NYPD said.
Disturbing surveillance video released by police shows the sedan traveling into the intersection at a high rate of speed and hitting the cyclist.
The force of impact was so intense that the cyclist disappears from view as the car continues speeding south down Church Avenue, according to police.
The video shows panicked people running away from the area; at least one man can be seen ripping off his jacket and racing towards the scene of the crash, apparently to help the victim.
The cyclist, later identified as Brooklyn resident Jeremy Morales, was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital, police said.
It's not clear who had the right of way. An investigation by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
