Authorities say a Long Island man died after his car overturned and landed in the waters of Huntington Harbor. A passenger was unhurt.
Suffolk County police say Edward Franz, 29, of Huntington Station was driving on West Shore Road in Huntington around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when he apparently lost control of his car.
The vehicle hit a guardrail and went airborne, landing upside down in about six feet of water.
Authorities say four onlookers jumped in and rescued the man in the passenger seat. Emergency officials rescued Franz. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
