A church parishioner leaving a parking spot on Sunday backed into a car, then lurched forward and hit the door of a building, the pastor said.
St. John's Episcopal Church in New Rochelle was having a "Spring into Summer" picnic and barbecue during the crash.
An older parishioner was backing a Mercedes out of a parking spot when the car hit a parked Volkswagen, then lurched forward and struck the building, said the Rev. Jennie Talley.
A woman who was running into the building fell and broke her ankle, Talley said.
The building was on church grounds but wasn't the church itself. The door was duct-taped after the crash.
