A canoe with two men in it overturned in Long Island's Smithtown Bay Sunday and the pair was later rescued from the 48-degree water.
One of the men was stranded in the water for 20 minutes, and the other for 45 minutes.
They were rescued by a Suffolk County Department Police officer and Smithtown Public Safety Bay constable after witnesses alerted the authorities about the canoe overturning.
The men were being treated for hypothermia, cuts and abrasions.
