Busted: 12 Arrested in Drug Sweep

A Long Island prosecutor is announcing the arrest of 12 people from the metropolitan area. The men and women are charged with selling and possessing heroin, powder and crack cocaine, and marijuana.

Some suspects are also facing weapons possession charges.

Suffolk DA Tom Spota says the heroin was cut and packaged in Queens and other New York City locations. It was regularly transported to western Suffolk County for street sales.

Investigators say they seized a significant amount of heroin.

They also recovered 50 weapons -- including handguns, shotguns and rifles -- and $200,000 in cash.

More arrests are expected.
