About three out of four New York City voters have seen Mayor Michael Bloomberg's campaign television ads and about half of those people think the spots are boring.
According to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday, 78 percent of registered voters surveyed said they were familiar with the ads, which is no surprise, because they are everywhere.
The billionaire has so far spent $36.5 million of his own money on his third-term campaign. He began advertising in April -- earlier than he ever has before.
A similar poll during the the last mayoral election in 2005 found that 57 percent of respondents had seen a Bloomberg ad.
Of those who've seen the spots this year, 47 percent say they're annoying; 41 percent say they're informative.
The poll surveyed 1,290 registered voters. It has a plus or minus 2.7 percentage point margin of error.
Earlier this month, Democrat City Controller William Thompson's mayoral campaign accused Mayor Bloomberg of trying to hide how much he is really spending on his reelection bid.
