Warby Parker to Give NYC Community School Students Free Glasses

Students at the city’s 130 community schools will soon receive free eye exams, and free glasses if needed, thanks to a new deal with NYC-based hipster eyewear brand Warby Parker.

Mayor de Blasio announced the plan to offer the free exams to 65,000 elementary, middle and high school students at a Wednesday news conference at PS 50 in Harlem.

While the exams will cost taxpayers $10 million, Warby Parker is providing the estimated 20,000 glasses over the next four years at no cost.

Students will be able to choose between 10 and 20 styles.
