National Weather Service to Investigate Possible Tornadoes in New Jersey

The National Weather Service says it is sending a team to southern New Jersey to see if a tornado touched down there during Tuesday's damaging storm, while amateur video from the state's shore shows whipping, swirling winds battering a dock and sending a surfboard flying through the air.

Investigators will tour several locations in Gloucester County in an effort to determine if a tornado was responsible for the widespread damage seen across the county to the east of Philadelphia.

The county was one of the areas hardest-hit by the blasting, powerful storms Tuesday. At one mall, witnesses reported seeing a tornado. A car was upturned and the mall's facade was damaged during the storm.

It's not the only report of a twister in the Garden State, however. Amateur video posted online by Jerry Bushko shows whipping, swirling winds pummeling an inlet near Ship Bottom.

The video shows an opaque line of either rain or wind pushing toward Bushko's porch. Boats bob up and down violently, and at one point the videographer can be heard saying, "It's a tornado!"

As the powerful gusts move by the house, a surfboard can be seen flying through the air.

No teams have been dispatched to Ship Bottom to investigate the event there.
