A 19-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting of a man in a C Town supermarket in the Bronx last week, police say.
Authorities say Ruben Ayala, of the Bronx, was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the Dec. 21 shooting at the store on Southern Boulevard in Woodstock.
Police and witnesses said a gunman walked into the supermarket, chased two men through the aisles and then shot one of them three times in a back room typically closed off to shoppers. The 21-year-old victim was hit in the back and shoulders, and the other man was not injured.
Witnesses said shoppers began running out of the supermarket, some screaming.
The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition following the shooting.
