Small Alligator Found in Eastern LI

A man in Mastic Beach managed to capture the 2-foot critter in a plastic bin

Police in Suffolk County confirm that an alligator was found crawling in a front yard on eastern Long Island on Friday morning.

A man in Mastic Beach managed to capture the 2-foot critter in a plastic bin. It weighed about three or four pounds.

Police presumably advised the gator it had the right to remain silent as they taped its mouth shut to avoid injury.

It was taken to a nearby pet shop.

The shop owner says it was likely discarded by someone who feared it would grow larger and become dangerous.
