School Bus Full of Kids Crashes Into Guardrail in NJ; No Life-Threatening Injuries Reported

A school bus full of students drove into a guardrail during a four-vehicle crash in East Orange on Wednesday evening, but authorities said there were no life-threatening injuries.

The bus was headed westbound on I-280 shortly before 4 p.m. when it was involved in a crash with three other vehicles near exit 12, authorities said.

The bus was fully occupied at the time. Most of the students were put on new buses, but at least six of them were taken to ambulances for evaluation and possible transport to local hospitals. One of the kids was placed on a stretcher.

A spokesperson for New Jersey State police said none of the injuries were life-threatening, though multiple people suffered minor injuries. All of the people were said to be conscious and alert.

Chopper 4 video shows the front of the bus smashed against the guardrail and surrounded by emergency responders.

New Jersey State police were investigating and had closed off the right and center lanes of the westbound roadway as of 5:45 p.m. Huge delays of more than four miles were reported.
