A runner is in critical condition after collapsing Sunday during the Staten Island marathon, police said.
The 57-year-old man had a cardiac episode on the marathon course shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to the NYPD.
Police were called to the scene, and an officer performed CPR. The man was hospitalized at Staten Island University Hospital.
