Brazen Robbers Smash Arcade Glass With Hammer as Worker Throws Objects at Them, Video Shows

A group of robbers walked into a dry cleaning business in the Bronx and brazenly smashed the glass of an arcade machine to steal quarters as a worker inside tried to scare away the suspects by throwing objects at them, surveillance video shows.

Police say two of the suspects walked into the store at 786 Cortlandt Ave. at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, while a third acted as a lookout. Video shows one of the robbers smashing the glass of the arcade with a hammer while the other takes quarters from inside the machine.

The hammer-wielding suspect gets frenzied in his attempt to break through the rest of the machine as a store worker, outside the shot of the video, throws objects at the men in an attempt to scare them off, police said.

Finally the robbers run off, but not before throwing a stool at the worker, which caused a cut to his ear, police said. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital with minor injuries.
