Kids' Hooded Sweatshirts Recalled Over Strangulation Risk

A New York-based company is recalling kids' hooded sweatshirts because of risk of strangulation, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday.

The Croker Kids Ireland hooded sweatshirts, manufactured by the James Trading Group, based in Orangeburg, have drawstrings around the neck that pose a strangulation hazard to children, the federal agency said.

The drawstrings can become entangled or caught on playground slides, hand rails, school bus doors or other moving objects, according to CPSC.

No injuries have been reported.

The sweatshirts have been sold in Irish boutiques and other specialty retail stores nationwide and online at www.thejtg.com since August 2012.

Customers interested in obtaining refunds can conduct the James Trading Group Monday through Friday at 1-800-541-5004. They can also remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts.
