A medical examiner determined that the 69-year-old man found dead in a Brooklyn apartment last month was stabbed in the head, police say. 

Police found found Sergio Basse inside an Albany Avenue building in East Flatbush after getting a call about a person being shot there, according to the NYPD. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police initially thought the man had been shot in the back of the head, the NYPD says, but a medical examiner determined this week that Basse had been stabbed.

No arrests have been made in the killing.

On Thursday, police said they were looking for a woman who knew Basse and released surveillance footage of the woman inside a store.
