Paterson Mayor Vows to Probe Senior's Death

Mayor Jeffery Jones isn't ruling out legal action in the case of a city man who died in an apartment building where the air conditioning malfunctioned.

Paterson's mayor isn't ruling out legal action in the case of a city man who died in an apartment building where the air conditioning malfunctioned.

The 77-year-old man was discovered Thursday in the Murray M. Bisgaier Residence, a 21-story building that houses seniors and disabled people.

Paterson Mayor Jeffery Jones says city officials received a citizen complaint Wednesday night and health officials went to the building Thursday morning.

Maintenance workers found the man's body during a search of the building.

Jones is waiting for a report from the Raymond Marzulli Co., which manages the building. No one answered the phone at the company's office Friday.

Jones vowed to take "whatever action the law allows" if violations are discovered.
