Queens Man Sentenced for Leaving Dead Dad in Morgue to Collect Pension, Social Security

A Queens man who left his dead father in a Long Island morgue so he could continue to collect pension and Social Security payments will have to pay back more than $25,000, the state comptroller’s office said.

Christopher Bunn was also sentenced to time served after he left his father in a Nassau County morgue for more than a year.

During that time, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said, Bunn collected $7,542 in pension payments and another $17,790 in social security. The payments were deposited electronically in the father’s bank account.

“This case is a warning to anyone attempting to steal state pension funds,” DiNapoli said. “We are tracking you and you will be prosecuted

Bunn, 49, paid full restitution on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to grand larceny and petit larceny in October.
