A man who was shot in the East Village early Friday morning has died, police say.
The 22-year-old man was shot in the courtyard of the Wald Houses, near East Sixth Street, sometime before 1:50 a.m.
He was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his torso. He later died from his injuries.
The events surrounding the shooting were not immediately known. The man's name has been withheld pending the notification of his family.
There have been no reported arrests.
