5 Officers Injured When Cop Cars Collide in Brooklyn During Pursuit: NYPD

Five officers were injured when an unmarked police car involved in a pursuit smashed into an NYPD cruiser in Brooklyn, police said.

The unmarked cop car was racing to help officers chasing a suspect on foot when it collided with the NYPD cruiser at the intersection of Sutter Avenue and Thomas S. Boyland Street in Brownsville on Wednesday morning. 

A yellow taxi cab was also hit by the unmarked car. 

The FDNY received a call about the collision shortly before 2 a.m.

Five officers suffered minor injuries. Three of them were taken to Kings County Hospital. The two others were taken to Jamaica Hospital. No civilians were injured.

Police were still at the scene investigating at 4:30 a.m. The intersection was shut down and flares were lit up across the roadway.
