Arson Fire Guts Yonkers Apartment: Official

The Yonkers fire department says an arson fire has destroyed an apartment in a two-story building.

The blaze at the Ravine Avenue building broke out at 3:43 a.m. Monday. The fire was brought under control about one hour later.

Assistant Fire Chief John Flynn told the Journal News that the family who lived in the apartment was not home at the time. He said "we have indicators that clearly this was arson," but didn't elaborate.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury. A vacant bar on the first floor sustained light damage.
