A Long Island teen who had gone out with friends to celebrate the arrival of a new year was found dead in the early morning hours of New Year's Day, less than a half-mile from home.
A newspaper deliveryman found the body of Garrett Quedens, 14, lying on the roadside just before 4 a.m. Thursday. The teen had gone out with friends, and his parents started searching for him after he failed to return home by 12:30 a.m., with no success.
Police said the Suffolk County medical examiner will determine cause of death, but there was no evidence of foul play.
