Metro-North Parking Mishap Delays Morning Commute

A commuter accidentally crashes through a fence near Metro-North Railroad tracks

A commuter trying to park his car accidentally crashed through a fence near Metro-North Railroad tracks in Connecticut, delaying the morning commute.

The car entered an area near the tracks close to the Darien station Friday morning, Metro-North spokesman Aaron Donovan says. No train was coming and no one was injured.

The driver apparently hit the wrong pedal and crashed through the fence, Donovan said.

The westbound local track was out of service between 6:38 a.m. and 7:09 a.m. Donovan said that by about 9:30 a.m., service continued to be delayed, but for only for five or 10 minutes.

A motorist and five passengers were killed Tuesday evening when a Metro-North train slammed into a vehicle on the tracks at a rail crossing in Valhalla, New York.
