Man Sought in Fatal Stabbing of Wife at NJ Home: Prosecutors

Authorities are searching for a man accused of stabbing his wife to death at their home in New Jersey's largest city.

Steven Damon, 47, of Newark, is charged with murder and weapons offenses, Essex County prosecutors say.

He's accused of attacking 46-year-old Tanya Morris around 8 a.m. Friday. She was pronounced dead at the scene about 40 minutes later.

Prosecutors say Damon fled the scene after the attack and remained at large on Sunday.

A possible motive for the slaying has not been disclosed.

Authorities say the couple's two young children are now being cared for by family members. It wasn't clear if the children were home when the attack occurred or if they witnessed the incident.
