A man sitting in a car was shot and critically wounded early Sunday morning in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, police said.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the shots were fired from the street or from a car. The suspect was seen speeding away in a dark-colored Mercedes, investigators said.
The victim was shot in the neck and chest and taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The shooting occurred in the vicinity of Steinway Street and 28th Avenue.
A police patrol car responding to the shooting was involved in an accident involving three other cars. There were no serious injuries.
