Man Caught on Video Yanking, Abusing Dog: Cops

A Harlem man has been arrested after being caught on a surveillance camera apparently yanking and abusing a small dog, law enforcement officials said today.

The disgusting attack, which occurred on Thursday September 30th, shows the man—Carlos Baez of Harlem—violently jerking the leash of a small white dog, causing it to choke, police said. The man is also seen kicking the dog, and slamming it into the floor.

The abuse continued for several minutes after the suspect left the elevator and walked into the lobby.

The dog, a 3-year-old mixed breed named Dutch, was eventually found with its owners, and taken to the Center for Animal Care and Control on E 110 street, where it was found to be in good condition with no injuries, officials said.

Baez is said to be the boyfriend of the dog’s owner. He was charged with one count of torturing and injuring animals and one count of possession of Marijuana.

This is the second sickening assault on dog that was caught on tape this year.  Chris Grant pleaded to an animal cruelty in May after his cruel assault on his girlfriend's Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix Chuvi-Duvi was also captured on a security camera in an elevator.
