Mall Cashier Accused of Aiding $7K Theft

Police said the pair pulled off the stunt six times last month

A sales clerk at a suburban New York City mall has been accused of helping her friend steal clothes and then issuing her refunds when she returned them before even leaving the store.

Security officers at the Nordstrom store at The Westchester mall in White Plains said the clerk and another woman took items off display racks and into dressing rooms and put them in Nordstrom shopping bags.

They said surveillance videos show the other woman taking the bags to the clerk's register to return the merchandise and receiving refund credits to her charge cards.

Police said the pair pulled off the stunt six times last month and netted nearly $7,000.

The clerk was arrested Sunday night. She's charged with felony grand larceny.

Police are looking for the other woman.
