Long Island Prosecutors File Charges in Alleged Heroin Ring

Prosecutors on Long Island say they have filed charges against suspects in an alleged heroin distribution ring.

Authorities say the charges filed Wednesday follow the arrest of a suspected Bronx-based heroin supplier earlier this month. That suspected dealer is being prosecuted in New York City.

He is alleged to have supplied heroin and other drugs to at least 11 people in Suffolk County. Prosecutors say those people then re-sold the heroin to customers on Long Island.

Among those charged in Suffolk County was 35-year-old Winston Rose, who is facing charges he was a major trafficker. He pleaded not guilty and was held on $6 million bond.

His attorney, Philip Murphy, insisted his client was innocent. He said Rose lives modestly and is not a major drug supplier.
