A tractor-trailer that flipped under an overpass on the Long Island Expressway shut down part of the busy highway for hours Wednesday.
The Long Island Expressway was closed between exits 61 and 60 following the 4:30 a.m. accident. Inspectors had to examine and repair the bridge at Patchogue-Holbrook Road, and the highway reopened shortly before 5 p.m.
The driver was not injured. According to Newsday, he was issued a summons for a mechanical violation and another for a non-moving violation.
