Jeep Driver Cited After Getting Stuck in Ramapo River

Firefighters had to fish a Jeep out of the Ramapo River in New Jersey after its 23-year-old driver intentionally drove straight into it, police say.

Officials say the driver was apparently unaware that there were deep spots in the river in Hillburn when he plunged into the water and got stuck.

When police arrived, the Jeep was submerged and had to be towed with the assistance of the Hillburn Fire Department.

The driver was issued several tickets by the Ramapo Police Department and several misdemeanor charges by the New York State Department of Environmental Police.
