Federal Storm Help Extended to Jan. 28

The previous deadline was Dec. 31

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced that federal emergency management officials have extended to Jan. 28 the deadline to register for disaster help related to Sandy.

The previous deadline was Dec. 31.

More than $20 million in federal aid has already been approved. Malloy said extending the deadline will ensure that residents and businesses affected by Sandy have enough time to apply for aid.

Malloy's office says about 11,400 residents in Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven and New London counties, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Mohegan Tribal Nation have registered for federal disaster help.
