Second Man Arrested in Fiery DWI Crash That Killed Dad, 2 Children

A second man has been arrested following a fiery car crash on Long Island that killed a father and his two young children.

Demetri Stewart, 23, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday in Suffolk County Court on charges he helped the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash flee the scene.

His attorney, Gregory Nanton, said Stewart is innocent.

Oneil Sharpe pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday to driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. Bond was set at $500,000.

Police say 24-year-old Sharpe slammed into a sedan on the westbound Southern State Parkway early Sunday. The sedan burst into flames, killing Ancio Ostane, 37, his 8-year-old son Andy and 4-year-old daughter Sephora.

Ostane's wife, Lucnie Bouaz-Ostane, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, managed to escape with minor injuries.

"I don't have a future," Bouaz-Ostane told NBC 4 New York. "I don't have a reason to live, to go to work."

Ancio Ostane was a mathematics professor, his wife said. Her daughter was about to enter kindergarten and her son had recently received his first Holy Communion at their church, she said.
