A former New Jersey police officer who pleaded guilty to having sex with two teenage girls while on-duty has been sentenced to six years in prison.

The Morristown Daily Record reports that a judge in Morris County ordered 45-year-old Wilfredo Guzman to serve five years before being eligible for parole.

The former Rockaway Township officer pleaded guilty earlier to two counts of official misconduct, acknowledging that the underlying misconduct was having sex with the 15- and 17-year-old girls in 2014 and 2015.

Guzman declined to make a statement Friday, but defense attorney Wolodymyr Tyshchenko said his client's plea in May that he had been diagnosed as "hyper-sexual, compulsive and lacking in impulse control."

He said Guzman's marriage had been strained and he wanted "affirmation and attention."
